18 Wheeler Accident Involving School Bus occurred today. The 18 Wheeler accident occurred today and it involved an Aldine ISD school bus. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon around 3 o’clock. The 18 wheeler was turning wide when the bus hit the rear of the 18 Wheeler. There were 19 students on the bus at the time of the 18 wheeler accident. Luckily, at this time none of the student’s injuries are thought to be life threatening, 9 students were transported to the hospital after this 18 wheeler accident. Bus accidents and 18 wheeler accidents are serious and occur more frequently during the recent rainy weather. It is lucky at this time none of the injuries appear to be life threating. However, that does not mean that injuries could not have occurred from the accident. Even small impact car accidents can create injuries to one’s body. One considers how large and powerful a school bus or 18 wheeler trucks are it is lucky that nothing more traumatic occurred. Injuries form motor vehicle accidents can have long lasting impact on one’s physical movements. The old nursery rhyme about the how every part of the body is connected is absolutely correct. 18 wheeler accidents can have catastrophic injuries associated with the accident.
Injury victims may see a neck injury, back injury, fractured bones, or even brain damage. While it does not sound likely that any of these students will face the above mentioned injuries, it is still important to seek medical attention immediately if you do start to experience any of soreness or injury occur. Many might feel fine immediately after the accident due to the increased adrenaline following an accident. However, as the body winds down from its fight or flight response many may notice sore neck, back stiffness, or even a tingling feeling in their arms or legs. If any of these symptoms occur please speak with a doctor or chiropractor to see what options you have available. If you have been injured and would like to speak with a Personal Injury Lawyer about any questions you may have involving your legal options available following an 18 Wheeler Accident, please feel free to contact the Pascoe Law Firm.

Texas chemical leak turns fatal, a Chemical Exposure Accident occurred at the DuPont chemical plant in La Porte, TX. The hazardous plant accident occurred when gas started leak. Unfortunately, this industrial accident killed four workers and severely injured a fifth who is at the hospital. The chemical gas that was exposed to the workers thought to be Methyl mercaptan. This substance is mixed with odorless natural gas to give it its characteristic rotten-egg smell. The company was able to contain the leak and it is said that the fifth worker was not seriously injured. However, the worker will be hospitalized overnight for observations after being exposed to this deadly chemical.
The chemical leak caused a rotten egg small across the community of La Porte. While La Porte is an industrial town, the company said it posed no hazard to the community. “A spokesman for the U.S. Chemical Safety Board, an independent agency, said a team of experts would arrive in La Porte on Sunday to search for the cause of the accident. DuPont’s 600-acre La Porte plant employs 800 workers and produces a variety of products, including Teflon, environmentally friendly refrigerants, pesticides and plastics for auto safety glass and consumer packaging.”
The leak began when a valve on the methyl mercaptan supposedly malfunctioned. The chemical leak and resulting chemical exposure took place in an operating unit that produces additives for fertilizers. “It was unclear, however, why the workers were overcome. The plant’s risk-management plan, dated September 2011, states that all employees are trained to recognize potential chemical hazards and instructed in several ways to report emergencies and secure help. A separate emergency-response team has been extensively trained in ‘fume and vapor suppression’ and in emergency medical care, it states. The La Porte plant kept 122,000 pounds of methyl mercaptan on hand at the time the plan was released.”

The fire was so severe that it closed down part of the high way while fire fighters worked to get the blaze under control. Six fire departments responded to help get the fire put out. The fire fighters had a difficult time getting the fire under control due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area. Eventually the plant explosion was able to have the fire put out by using a form to snuff out the flames. “Shortly before 4:30 p.m., fire erupted at American Materials, an asphalt manufacturer, located at 2122 Highway 90A.” Fire fighters remained at the location to make sure a hot spot did not occur and reignite the flame. The rally has started to become mainstream event having people of all types interested in showing off their bikes. The linked news article even goes as far as saying it is a family friendly event.
One reason for the no refusal weekend could be because of the recent high levels of fatal car accidents that involved motorcycle riders and alcohol. “Even though motorcycles account for only about 3 percent of registered vehicles on the road, motorcycle riders are dramatically overrepresented in fatal crashes involving alcohol.” League City is included in Galveston County and could be within the designated DWI check point for this weekend.

Car Accidents maybe on the rise in the League City, TX and across the nation due to distracted drivers. A new study just released says that everyone seems to know how dangerous it is to text and drive; however, many drivers are still doing this dangerous combination. Texting and driving has been compared to being as dangerous as drinking and driving. This is because both cause individuals to not be able to immediately respond to what is occurring on the road leading to a collision of the motor vehicles.
The study says that, “98 percent of motorists who own cellphones and text regularly said they were aware of the dangers, yet three-quarters of them admitted to texting while driving, despite laws against it in some states. Two-thirds said they have read text messages while stopped at a red light or stop sign, while more than a quarter said they have sent texts while driving.” Many might feel that they can do several things at once while behind the wheel of a car. However, this is a common misconception that many fail to realize puts themselves, passengers, and others on or near the road in danger and leads to a motor vehicle accident to occur. Many need to learn to put the phone down break away from their technology addiction while driving.
AT&T is who put on the study in part of its anti-texting and driving campaign to help spread the word of the dangers of the activity and to help gain research on what many drivers are really doing behind the wheel. AT&T is working to expend the availability of a free app that it has for phones that will silence text messages and alerts when someone is moving 15 miles per hour or faster. This issue seems to be about educating the public and breaking free from the perception that it is okay to text and drive.
In Texas, it used to be common place to have open alcoholic drinks while driving on the roadways. Many people would not think twice about drinking some beers while coming home from work or while on a road trip. There was even an old joke that starts with one person asking how for it is to some other city. The other person would respond oh… about a 6 pack. Thanks to MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, and several others, it’s now uncommon for a punishable offense to drink and drive with an open container. Likewise, society needs to shift toward away from its acceptance of texting and driving.
Some of the common reasons while drivers said they text while driving in the study include:
So as a society let’s all put down our phones together and not text while driving. If you are in a car and see someone doing this dangerous activity please ask them to stop. Car accidents can happen in the blink of an eye or the glance of a text message. After a car crash many can suffer personal injury from to the collision. There have even been several unfortunate cases where individuals die from fatal injuries from texting while driving car accidents. If you have been injured by a distracted driver in a car accident, please contact a League City Personal Injury Lawyer who can fight to protect your legal rights.

Police are investigating a car accident that got crushed by an 18 wheeler and led to one death near the League City, TX area. The accident took place in Pasadena on Highway 225. 18 wheeler accidents have been on the rise within Texas and this is just another example of how dangerous it is to share a road with these commercial trucks.
Plastic Containers blew out of a small pickup truck and caused the female driver of car to slow down. Unfortunately, the semi-tractor trailer who was driving behind the female driver did not see the women slowing down to avoid the containers on the road. Because the truck driver did not see women breaking his truck slammed into the female’s car and rolled on top of it crushing and killing her. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene of this tragic accident.
The incident is still under investigation by police and it is not known at this time if charges will be filed in this fatal auto accident. While these types of accidents are always unfortunate in this sad situation the truck driver was not unharmed from this event. The 18 Wheeler driver suffered several injuries, with the drivers right arm specifically being mentioned. The truck driver’s injuries were treated at a local hospital and he was released.
While this 18 wheeler was somewhat of a freak accident, these types of car accidents occur quite often on the Texas roadways. With the increase of big rig trucks its only common sense that these unfortunate accidents will continue to occur. An accident of this nature brings about several legal questions that can become quite complex. The female driver’s estate is likely to have the option taking legal action against the truck driver, personally, and the driver’s company for the negligence of their employee.
