Galveston, Texas - A horrific fatal car accident occurred on the Galveston Seawall last Thursday night and tragically kills a woman in the crash. The auto accident occurred around 11:36 P.M. Both vehicles involved in the accident went over the seawall and were on the sandy beach below. The Galveston police department responded from a 911 call that described the incident as a major accident at the 4100 block of the Galveston Seawall BLVD. Upon the police officers arrival, they noticed that each vehicle still has its driver inside in need of help. Galveston Fire and EMS arrived and had started to extract and assess their injuries and need for medical attention. Sadly, the 54 year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Galveston police obtained a search warrant for Mr. Flores’ blood because of the suspicion of this accident being a drunken driving accident that involved the use of alcohol or other intoxicating substance. The results of the test are still pending. However, the police arrested, Gerado Flores, age 34, and he has been charged with manslaughter for the crash that killed the other party. After being arrested he was transported to the John Sealy Emergency Room for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. After his release from the hospital he will be taken to the Galveston County Jail and will be held on a $75,000 bond. An investigation of the accident took place by the Galveston Police Accident Reconstruction team, with the participation from detectives from the Criminal investigation Division and the Crime Scene Unit. The investigation units concluded that “Flores was traveling westbound in [a] Impala on the Seawall Blvd but was driving on the eastbound lines. Witnesses said that [the other party] was legally parked in a parking spot on the south side of the seawall, facing east, and was seated in the vehicle. Flores [traveling the wrong lane of traffic] drifted over into the parking lane and struck the [woman’s vehicle], head on, causing both vehicles to be ejected of the seawall.
